Birth of a Short Story

After looking into doing some freelancing over the past week, I have realized that particular arena is not suited for me and in frustration I have been writing. I mentioned in a post some time ago about how I was thinking of writing a series of short stories. By that time I had only written one story to about 90% completion but I was not sure of what I could do with it. As it stands that short story will be tucked away in the archives of my flash drive waiting for me to come back to it.

Since then I've begun to write at least four other short stories. All of them have strong ties to the In Search of Infinity series of books that I am working on but only one has a direct correlation to Living Through The Glass. The short story I have been working on over the past week is near completion and I feel very strongly about publishing it and making it available soon.

This story, like my other short stories are all told through the perspective of the main character from Living Through The Glass (Chloe). This story focuses on her main caretaker and father figure of sorts Oscar as he finds himself immersed in his obsessions with perfection and failure while dealing with his often self-destructive nature. He focuses on a new goal that once finally achieved changes his entire perspective on life though not necessarily for the better.

I have found that this story is a perfect bridge between Living Through The Glass and my forthcoming second book Prisoner of Castigation because Oscar is an important character in both books as Chloe and Norman (the lead character in Prisoner of Castigation and a main character in Living Through the Glass) hold a great deal of anger and resentment towards him. The short shory is meant to show a slightly different side of Oscar; one that is not as brash and callous as the two main books portray him to be.

I do hope that I will be able to publish this book in the near future but I cannot do that until I'm able to come up with an appropriate title for the short story series and for the story itself. When that happens, hopefully within the next 2-3 months, I will surely move forward with making the book available to the public and making the necessary updates (which will likely include converting this post into one of my Note From the Author posts).
