The Midnight Manifesto: A Note from the Author

It is my intention to try to write one of these for every book that I publish. It is designed to hopefully give a little bit of insight into what led me to write these stories.

Admittedly, I am not much of a poet. I have held a small appreciation for poetry over the years, but until earlier this year, I have never had the urge to write poetry. The Midnight Manifesto came about earlier this year as a personal challenge of sorts. It was a way for me to try to escape a quite severe bout of writer’s block. The challenge was for me to try to write 50-100 words every night before bed. There were no guidelines for this challenge other than to write.

After I completed my challenge and began to reread my poems, I took notice of the theme and began to stick with it. The theme for this story is purposely dark and vague. It is meant to straddle the line between lucidity and chaotic absurdity. The story is a present-day struggle between the desires, fears, desperation and needs of a troubled mind and how often times those issues come to a head at the most inopportune time. While a few of the poems are autobiographical in nature, the overall story is completely fictional.

If you are interested in purchasing a copy of The Midnight Manifesto, it is on sale for $0.99 USD or free with a Kindle Unlimited subscription at Amazon.
